Description

All's faire in love and war for two sworn enemies who indulge in a harmless flirtation in a laugh-out-loud rom-com from debut author Jen DeLuca.

Emily knew there would be strings attached when she relocated to the small town of Willow Creek, Maryland, for the summer to help her sister recover from an accident, but who could anticipate getting roped into volunteering for the local Renaissance Faire alongside her teenaged niece? Or that the irritating and inscrutable schoolteacher in charge of the volunteers would be so annoying that she finds it impossible to stop thinking about him?

The faire is Simon's family legacy and from the start he makes clear he doesn't have time for Emily's lighthearted approach to life, her oddball Shakespeare conspiracy theories, or her endless suggestions for new acts to shake things up. Yet on the faire grounds he becomes a different person, flirting freely with Emily when she's in her revealing wench's costume. But is this attraction real, or just part of the characters they're portraying?

This summer was only ever supposed to be a pit stop on the way to somewhere else for Emily, but soon she can't seem to shake the fantasy of establishing something more with Simon or a permanent home of her own in Willow Creek.

I WISH I COULD GIVE THIS MORE THAN FIVE STARS!!

NEW FAVORITE!! I’m still swooning!!!

THANK YOU BERKLEY AND NETGALLEY FOR SENDING ME AND EARLY COPY!!

I have officially been WOOED by Jen Delucas world!! Ahhhhh I just want to go back and reread it!! This book gave me all the warm happy fuzzy butterflies!! I never wanted to put it down, I was captivated and consumed with Simon and Emily’s renaissance romance!!!

This story follows Emily who’s had a really awful breakup as she goes to the small town of Willow Creek to help her sister recover from a bad accident and help take care of her teenage niece. Apart of taking care of her is joining in on the summer renaissance faire and becoming a tavern wench on the weekends. She meets the swoon worthy pirate Captain Blackthorne who she is trying to come to terms with is the same firm English teacher she butted heads with. Ahh these two fall head over heels in love with eachother and it’s developed so PERFECTLY! So much chemistry that it was practically oozing off the page. My stomach was full of butterflies over ever interaction between them, I just couldn’t stop reading I wanted to stay in there world!

I loved Emily and her journey towards realizing her self worth. It’s so important and I felt so deeply for her. I loved her relationship with her sister, and Stacey as well! I loved how supportive they were and how important family was in this book. I loved all the side characters and I’m dying for more of this small town. (Please tell me Mitch and April get a book!!) I loved the bookstore element and the faire element. It was so adorable but I loved how Faire was more than just Faire. For Simon it’s something completely different and deeper and I loved how that was written and watching him grow into himself as an individual.

I’m in love with Simon. Oh my god. That man made my heart swoon and melt. THE QUOTING OF SHAKESPEARE! THE SHARED LOVE FOR ENGLISH! Ahhhh all those book store moments and faire moments! I’m in love! I love history and the renaissance era so putting that into this modern love story I can’t!! I want a Simon!! THE CHEMISTRY BETWEEN HIM AND EMILY!! So much steaminess!! This book is filled with everything I love about romance!

I truly can’t speak highly enough about this book. I’m dying to reread it already and I’m so excited for everyone to read this when it comes out in September!!! It’s a new favorite of mine and I can’t wait wait for people to fall in love with Jen Delucas words as I have! I’m so excited to read more from her and I’m crossing my fingers we get more summers at Willow Creeks Renaissance Faire!
