Description

Outcasts of Faerie have lived unseen and secluded from humans. Until now.

When a strange dark magic threatens the human world, sixteen-year-old Nola seeks the help of Kelty, an outcast faerie she discovered with her rare magic sight, to help her stop it.

Reluctant and wary, Kelty must choose between turning her back on the helpless humans or sacrificing her chance to return to Faerie, which is only possible if she remains untainted by human contact.

The outcast responsible for Kelty’s banishment is playing his own dangerous game. He might be the answer to defeating the dark magic. He also might destroy them both.

Will the truth be discovered before the dark magic is unleashed upon the human world?

For fans of fast-paced YA fantasy, intense plots, and breathtaking magic, The Nameless is a tale unlike any other.

This is a faery novel about saving the Earth. I started to read it after being intrigued by the prequels. I was thinking it would be a nice light(ish) read. And in many ways it is. Books like this are what the world needs more of in these times of uncertainty.

This book is not bogged down by too much telling instead of showing, yet there is far too much repetition. It comes across as condescending - even towards the teens/tweens it seems to be marketed to, because if they come to expect a lot of repetition in the books they read, they may not develop their memories well. I realize this is probably not how the author meant it to come across, but that is just my impression.

One of the biggest cases of repetition is this: I lost count of how many times the narrator told us the same things about the Night and Day courts - sometimes word for word. I tried to tell myself not to be impatient, but I kept getting bored and having trouble paying attention, despite the fact that this is just the type of book I enjoy most. I don't like having to do this, but I read the first nine chapters and was starting to get annoyed, so I'm not continuing. Maybe I will try this book again in the future.

People who have a poor memory and enjoy fairytales will probably love this.

A unique story line that builds the relationship between a human girl and a fairy while they try to rescue the human's community. What they do not know is the same magic that has banished the fairy is at work to destroy the humans. This is a young adult book that is appropriate for any age that can follow a somewhat complex story line. It is a well thought out story with well defined characters and interactions. An enjoyable read that leaves me thinking there will be another book.

Waaaaay too much boring backstory in the first few chapters... doesn't really get going until chapter 12 which is 56 pages of boredom.

There could be a lot more speech (or at least thoughts) by the main character to explain the things that are just boring text right now. It's a reasonable book so far, but there is already a lot that can be improved which is on the verge of another star being knocked off, but I'm in a reasonable mood this afternoon so it's at 3.5 stars instead of 3 right now ;-)

Chapter 14 is a lot better, so I'm gonna promote it back to the 4 stars again. Chapter 15 was good too... the author is really getting into her story now, which is great.

I'm really enjoying the novel now... I've read ten chapters without stopping to review any of them lol Still a solid 4 stars... would have been the full 5 if it hadn't been for the first few chapters!

What a great ending! If you can forgive the first few chapters this is a great read when the author gets into her stride. A solid 4 stars before I head to bed.

I enjoyed this book. It was a really quick read and the story was fast paced making it easy to get through. I like both of the MC’s and other characters introduced and look forward to learning more about them in the following books. The writing in general was very YA and although I typically prefer more mature books, for some reason this book still worked for me. All in all, I’m rating this a 4/5*.

I received an ARC courtesy of Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

A decent start to a new series.
I do wish this had started further back in the timeline.
More information about how things were before Kelty had become an outcast and prior to Nola drinking the grey liquid would have been nice.
I look forward to seeing where Ms. Rose takes this series.
Thanks goes to NetGalley, Booksprout and Allison Rose Creations for my DRC.
