Advance Praise

"[Moretti] vividly portrays the sharp sting of infidelity, the abiding ache of infertility and the amorphous discontent of a love past its luster--all while moving the murder investigation swiftly forward. The foreshadowing is so skillful that plot twists feel surprising yet somehow inevitable. Other subtle touches (such as Maggie's cracking the skull of the intruder with a Lenox vase, a wedding present) will further enhance readers' pleasure. The dialogue is natural and authentic, and the story builds steadily to a satisfying, emotionally resonant conclusion. A gripping, psychologically nuanced thriller set along the fault lines of a marriage" -- Kirkus Reviews

"Binds That Tie is an example of a psychological thriller done right. I was completely hooked from the first pages until the shocking finale. This a book that shows what happens when a once happy marriage goes sour... If you are a fan of books like Gone Girl, I would highly recommend this title." -- Rainy Day Ramblings

"The story has suspense from cover to cover. The pacing is perfect...Moretti creates a unique story and writes it well. It doesn't get any better than that." -- Every Free Chance Books

"Binds that Tie has one of the most powerful storylines that I have read in a very long time." -- A Novel Review"Kate Moretti's second book is as engaging as her first, but she has upped the ante in this thriller with a taut, repeatedly surprising plot that ranges from a midnight body disposal to courtroom drama. Moretti positions herself with Gillian Flynn, ASA Harrison, and Heather Gudenkauf as a first-rate author of both convincing relationship drama and page-turning suspense." -- Elizabeth Buhmann, bestselling author of Lay Death At Her Door

When Maggie and Chris are first married, the world is their oyster. Chris makes Maggie feel like the most important, most loved woman on the planet. Ten years later and the bloom is definitely off the rose. Maggie has been hurt more than once because of Chris’s wandering eye (and other body parts). One night while out a local bar with her girlfriends, Maggie meets a man who makes her feel the way Chris used to, beautiful, desirable, needed. What starts as a harmless flirtation gets out of control and the man becomes obsessed with Maggie, refusing to leave her alone. Maggie is terrified Chris will find out and tries to keep everything secret, but secrets have a way of coming out. What a thrill ride. I love Kate Moretti, I will be looking for everything she’s written.

This was so not what I was expecting to read! I can't believe it has only one review on Amazon UK and I am so glad I can hopefully now spread the word about this fab book! I received a copy from netgalley recently but this book has actually been out since 2014 and is the authors second book.
I love a good twisty relationship drama and Binds That Tie is a fab example of that genre. Maggie and Chris are a married couple where things have started to fall apart and their relationship exists in a no man's land of betrayal and resentment. A brief flirtation with a man in a bar leads Maggie to commit a crime that shocks her and Chris to the core. Chris takes control of the situation but this just seems to make things worse and he finds himself locked up, away from Maggie.
This starts as a relationship dilemma which then unfolds into a courtroom drama. Initial sympathies for characters end up being turned around unexpectedly! I felt sorry for Maggie who is dealing with her husband's affair, her childless life and her sisters betrayal. But as things evolved, my sympathies changed. By the end I wasn't sure I even liked her! Or many of the other characters so it shows the brilliance of Kate Morettis writing that I still actually cared what happened to them! I am certainly going to looking for more of Kate's work in the future.
I received a copy of the book via netgalley in return for an unbiased review.
