For over twenty years, Danio has fought in King Marnol's army, his prowess in combat matched only by his loyalty. Civil war is ravaging the kingdom of Mesanda and the king needs men like Danio to turn the tide of battle in his favour. Yet the hardest fights are seldom fought on the field and rarely are they won with steel. And when the enemy wears the same colours as yours, the line between ally and foe blurs into oblivion. Ending up at the wrong place at the wrong time, Danio is inadvertently pulled into a web of treason and deceit, putting his life in grave danger.
