Kiss or Dare by Charlie Lane is the third book in the Debutante Dares series. Although the book can be read as a stand-alone I do recommend that you read the first two in the series as it is a great way to meet the other characters in the story. But this is definitely the love story of Lillian Clarke and Lord Devon. The story starts with them as frenemies. Lillian has a crush on Lord Devon and sees the potential he seems determined to destroy, but a mysterious letter seems to turn him around, helps him find a purpose.
Fast forward some months and Lord Devon is apprenticing with Lillian’s father who is an inventor. Teasing and banter are just a precursor to the sparks that fly between the characters. Sparks that fly and eventually get them more entangled then they had anticipated. Both have dreams that they want accomplish and they strike a bargain to make it happen. Lillian always sees the potential in Lord Devon and with her love and guidance and a great talk with his brother, he begins to see it as well.
What I loved about this book is that they build a relationship together, with some hiccups, but they come to realize the value that they each have individually and together. I loved the banter between Lillian and Devon and I loved the relationships between the other characters. Lillian’s parents were wonderful and entertaining. Devon’s brother was great as are Lillian’s best friends who were introduced in the earlier books. I recommend this book and the others in the series. They are all entertaining reads.
