First off I appreciate so much how the author is not forceful with her advice as some of these books are. The writing is clear and gives clear examples of how we acknowledge a child’s emotions and feelings. Sometimes they can express it, sometimes it can be huge, and parents are at a loss. This is a good learning/teaching tool and one I will lean on. Thank you to NetGalley and the author for a gifted copy. This is my honest review.

4.5 stars. There is a lot to appreciate about this book. I really liked the pushback on stoicism and toxic positivity. We are much better off acknowledging and managing our emotions instead of denying or repressing them, adults and children alike.

From a classroom perspective, this was a useful tool in providing exercises and activities for both young and school-age children to learn how to identify and name emotions, how to de-escalate and manage big feelings and how to create an environment that supports both the development of emotional intelligence and the ability to regulate feelings.

This is quick, accessible, and worthwhile reading for anyone who works with kids!

Many thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review!
