I was captivated with this book. From page one to the very last page. Don't plan non doing any work you won't want to put this one down. Very well written and characters you will like. Serial killers, detectives and FBI each working for their own successes. And then there are the victims and the sole survivor who is helped by someone with a special abilities. Macy is a survivor and even if she has a few fears lasting from her past she also has a successful career as a FBI agent helping the innocents. She is one tough lady. Thank you NetGalley and Charlene Tess and Judi Thompson and also the publisher I highly recommend the book if you like this genre it is five star material.

Macy Adams is kidnapped and tortured by a serial killer know as the Bayou Butcher. She is rescued by Detective Chance O’Brien. The first part of the books starts out pretty intense but begins to lag a bit for me. About 60% in the pace picks up.This book spans over a number of years. There is a small paranormal aspect to the story and boy it kept me guessing until the super shocking ending.

This book is riveting. It's intense, sad, scary, a little paranormal thriller, and romance. It's about a serial killer survivor, the cop who found her, rescued her, and finding true love.

Macy mover her head and tried to open her eyes. Where was she? What was that loud sound. ? Why couldn’t she open her eyes. Where was she? What was that sound? Why couldn’t she open her eyes? This was her nightmare since her childhood. To be trapped in the darkness with no one. Alone. Left to go insane for all eternity. It hurt to breathe. Tears poured down her face as she sobbed in desperation. Again, she pulled at her arms, but they were held down. She couldn’t move. Confused and bewildered, she cried harder. “Macy '' a woman's voice spoke to her from the darkness “Macy hush”. “Ou aren’t alone, I am here with you.” The woman held her hand and rubbed her arm. The woman's touch was like silk. It soothed her. The voice told her she wasn’t dead and she would help her but she had to listen cause she would be back soon. Then she told Macy to hush he was here. Evil was here she must pretend to be asleep. Martin Sabrien unlocked the padlock on the outside of the large steel door and swang it open into the dark garage. Martin had been bringing his women to the garage for the better part of a year. He b;ames all his bad luck on women. Chase stopped at the bakery his two sisters owned. Today was his first day as a detective with the Houston police department. When at the station Chance got assigned a big case when a woman’s body is found in the bayou. Later she is found to be a victim of the “Bayou Butcher”. Chance rescues Macy after she had been beaten and tortured close to death by the Butcher. Years later the Bayou Butcher reappears in the same place he took Macy. Macy is now a strong woman and is an FBI agent and needs closure even if it means coming back could make her a target.
I loved this book. It was a suspenseful read yet also the added bonus of a romance that worked in this great read. I loved how the author showed all that Macy went through after she was rescued to go on with her life and become an FBI agent. I loved Chance and Macy together and how they interacted with each other. I loved the hot connection/attraction they shared that came back when she went back to her hometown to help with the investigation when the Butcher restarted his evil killing again. I loved the pace and plot. This book had me from the start and kept me until the end. I feel Chase’s grandmother added to this book. I loved how close Chase was to his family. I loved how strong Macy had become and the chance she took in returning to her hometown. I didn’t want to put this book down and only did when I had to. I loved the action, intrigue, and danger in this book. I loved the characters and the twists and turns of this book and I highly recommend it.

Not having read this author before I found a gem in this one plus it is the beginning of the series. What has been my favorite to read of late is suspense so this one captivated me right away. This will also be a romance so it became a bonus read. The detective you follow will require all your attention it is that good. Chance is after a serial killer and it is not pretty. Whom needs to help also has to overcome quite a bit with Macy being in the middle of this also. If you do not like pins and needles do not open this one haha. So much intrigue and suspense it made my reading with having when I finished with this one I have to have more, in will need more from this author.

Thank you Netgalley and Tess Thompson for giving me a copy of When an angel whispers for a review. A new author for me, I absolutely loved this romantic thriller. Macy Adams, is abducted and assaulted by a serial killer known as The Bayou Butcher. She is escapes with the help of an angel and police detective Chance O’Brien. Years go by and Macy becomes an FBI agent, but is lured back when more women are being murdered. The story flowed nicely, the characters were great. I enjoyed Macy and Chance together and Chance with his family, and the side story of his grandmother. I was happy to see that this was book 1 of a trilogy. Can’t wait to read the other books!

A suspenseful book with a hint of “second sight”, romance and good character interest.. The development was good enough for the minor characters to have a story of their own. An enjoyable book that I want to read more From the author. I received an ARC of this book from Netgalley. The comments and review are my honest opinion.

What an amazing book!! We follow the primary story of Macy when she is a law student, who gets abducted by a serial killer and is left in a box until she is rescued by Chance, a Houston Police Detective. I really liked how the author does not have us assume that Macy is instantly okay again after she was rescued but instead, lets us see the lengthy process involving sessions with psychologists, learning ways to cope with the trauma as well as the strength of Macy herself in working to establish a new life for herself as an FBI Agent. When the killing begins again after they had stopped for many years, Macy once again meets up with Chance and the attraction felt between them but never acted upon from all those years before is secondary to finding the killer and giving Macy the closure she needs. This is so very compelling and thought-provoking and unfortunately is something of an apt reflection of the times we live in and the danger that lurks in the shadows of our everyday lives. I will definitely look for other books by this writing duo!
