Description

Camilla “Cami” Chandler comes home from France to take over the Chandler Hill Inn and Winery for her recently-deceased grandmother, Lettie, as she’d always promised. Determined to succeed in this new venture, she finds herself in trouble from the beginning when she discovers most of her grandmother’s estate intended for maintaining the inn’s business expenses was lost in a Ponzi scheme. She forges ahead to provide her guests with wonderful experiences and to produce the best wines in Willamette Valley. After being ditched by her French boyfriend, she decides that being friends with Drew Farley is the safest way to proceed. He loves grape growing and winemaking as much as she does and isn’t looking for anything beyond friendship.

When a bride planning a wedding at the inn tells Cami that she looks exactly like her best friend, life becomes even more complicated. Never having known even the name of her father, Cami searches for a connection and comes to realize how complicated love and family can be.

Cami Chandler returns home to her grandmother and grandfather's after her beloved grandmother, Lettie, passes away. Unbeknownst to Lettie, and grandfather, Rafe, the money that was originally being invested to use for handling the bills of the inn, Cami wonders how she is going to manage the inn and work on updating it at the same time without those funds. Bernard, Cami's former boyfriend, makes an unwelcomed visit and makes life miserable but karma is sweet. Vanessa was hired to help but, after moving on to a different winery, makes Cami's life heck also . Drew, Cami's best friend growing up, helps maintain the vines and winery for grandpa, Rafe. They choose to be friends since that is all they have time for but as they spend more time together, is friends enough? I loved this book. Even though I had not read the first book, it was so well written that I could get what was happening and a feel for the series. Thanks to Ms. Keim, Wild Quail Publishing, and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book and my opinions are strictly mine.

**SPOILERS FOR BOOK ONE!!**

Cami Chandler has spent the better part of her life preparing for her inheritance. As a child, she spent her days wandering through the grape vines of her family’s winery, studied both oenology and viticulture, and learned valuable lessons at her beloved grandmother’s side. Oh yes, Cami Chandler has been preparing for her future, but she certainly didn’t expect to arrive as quickly as it has.

With one phone call, Cami’s life is turned upside down. Her beloved grandmother, Lettie Chandler has died, and Cami is now the sole owner and proprietor of the Chandler Hill Inn and Winery. Nothing reveals a person’s inabilities faster than being thrown into the deep end, and that’s exactly where Cami finds herself. From a financial crisis she wasn’t anticipating to a dishonest inn manager, Cami has more than one plate in front of her and every one of them is overflowing. As she learned from Lettie, Cami begins to rely on the people around her that she knows, and she trusts. Though many are of her grandmother’s age and on the verge of retirement, they help Cami find her feet and find good, solid, and honest people who can take their place and work alongside Cami.

Above all else, Cami is determined to right the ship and maintain the hard-earned reputation of the inn and winery. With nothing but the best of intentions and a very strong will, Cami dislodges the dishonest manager and takes the reins as she has always expected to do. Though her changes and ideas are large, Cami has a great support network in place to help her realize her dreams for the inn and winery. If things go as planned, Cami will be able to offer more than even her forward-thinking and industrious grandmother ever could have conceived of.

And then, the universe steps in . . . . .

Just like her grandmother before her, Cami’s road isn’t an easy one. Her soulless ex-boyfriend has reappeared in her life and is causing problems both personally and professionally, her ex-inn manager is a menace, there are some disastrous staffing issues, and Cami’s own love interest doesn’t seem to realize what he has right in front of him. To make matters far worse, the universe isn’t content to drop these nuggets of awful in small chunks but in large heaping piles, simultaneously. Oh, and on top of everything else, Cami may have inadvertently discovered the identity of her biological father. Because life just isn’t crazy enough for poor Cami.

The Bottom Line: As you can see from my star rating, I didn’t love this book as much as I did the first and that is for one reason and one reason only, the whole biological father bit. This whole thing felt too far-fetched and wild for my liking and really brought down my overall enjoyment of the book. Now, on to the better bits! This book doesn’t cover near the time that the first book did, but it has the same overall feeling of a sweeping and emotional family saga. Cami is, like her grandmother was, a very young single woman trying to make her way in life at both the personal and professional levels. In so many scenes, I felt the presence of Lettie guiding Cami and helping her navigate a world she was only partially ready to inhabit. Also like her grandmother, Cami has to forge her own path and she does so in spectacular fashion and surrounded by a wonderful group of people who want what Cami wants, a successful, happy, and fulfilling life and career. Even in the bad moments, Cami always has her team, her support network, and people willing to come to her aid. In this way, the legacy of Lettie and Chandler Hill is still very much alive and inspiring the next generation.

Excellent story from one of my favorite authors. The characters and situations are real. It maintains the same caliber of home as the first book in the series.. Again, I can't wait for another novel from this author.

🌹My Review 🌹
I read this book a few weeks ago but our internet was out so I could not post my review. Then I forgot I was not able to post my review so this one is a little late. I am so sorry.

Coming Home is the second book in the Chandler Hill Inn Series, I read book one a few mo ago and when I saw book two on netgalley I had to request. Much to my delight I got it. Once I started this book I couldn’t stop. Thank goodness I had no plans because I finished this book in one day. I can’t say enough good things about this emotional hearwarming
story. There are so many storylines in this book, but the author puts them together so perfect. The characters are all so well developed and most are very likeable. I highly recommend it and I am soooo looking forward to reading another book by this author and I can't wait for the next book in the series. Many thanks to the publisher , author , and netgalley for a ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

What a beautiful story. It only took me a couple pages to remember the first story (about Cami's grandmother) I have to reread it now. Cami was alone except for her grandfather Rafe but had inherited the vineyard and everything around it. They had been having weddings, but she wanted to improve what they offered. I loved how strong she was and how she didn't let the men push her around. Most of the people respected her and cared for her and what she was doing. The story was very well written and I loved how new characters were introduced and we will love their story also. Excellent read - I got this book from NetGalley for an honest review

This is the second book in this series. In the first book Violet was our star. In this one her granddaughter Cami is our main character. Loved this book. The characters, the setting, the story line, they are all wonderful. Cami has to deal with emotions, threats, feelings, responsibilities and a whole lot of folks. Would she ever find the answer to the question that she’d like answered most? I would love to visit Chandler Hill Inn. It sounds so beautiful. You can feel the love and respect that the characters have for each other, well some of them anyway. I can’t wait to see what happens next in Willamette Valley. I received this book from NetGalley, but my opinion is my own.

I greatly enjoyed the first book in the Chandler Hill Inn Series and Lettie’s story. Her character touched me and it is one of my favorite books. When I got a chance to read this second book in the series, I jumped at it! Cami’s story is also so wonderful! I’m grateful that I was given an Advance Reader Copy in exchange for my unbiased review by Judith Keim and NetGalley. I love this series so much and Coming Home didn’t let me down!

Coming Home is the second book in the Chandler Hill Inn Series, written by author Judith Keim. Even though each book can be read as a stand-alone, I strongly recommend reading Going Home, the first book in the series. Going Home is filled with the Chandler family history, and it will help the reader to get a better understanding of the characters that reappear in Coming Home.

Cami Chandler was living in France when she received the devastating news that her beloved grandmother Lettie (Nonnee) passed away. Cami is not one to break a promise, so she has returned home to the beautiful Willamette Valley of Oregon and her inheritance...Chandler Hill Inn and Winery. Even though all of the Chandler relatives are now deceased, Cami is thankful that her grandfather Rafe will be there to guide her through this challenging time.

Cami is only twenty-three-years-old, but she is determined to follow in Nonnee's footsteps and keep the business a success. However, life never goes as planned. Her French boyfriend, Bernard, decided to break up with her in an email. On top of that, she does not trust the man Nonnee put in charge of running the business, so to say they are not off to a great start would be an understatement. To make matters even worse, she finds out the money she thought she had in the estate to cover the daily operating costs was actually lost in a Ponzi scheme. What else could possibly go wrong? Will Cami find a way to make things right?

The story that unfolds is beautifully written and thoroughly engaging from beginning to end. Cami is a well-developed character...one that is as strong as she is resilient...and has the same loving and caring personality as Nonnee. It is obvious that she was raised by Nonnee because she truly is just a younger version of her...both having a heart of gold. Rafe is the grandfather anyone would be blessed to have in their life, and his relationship with Cami is absolutely heartwarming. Rafe misses Lettie beyond belief, but having Cami back is definitely good for him. The supporting cast of characters perfectly blend into the story, and give it the perfect balance...flaws and all. There are quite a few unexpected twists and turns that perfectly weave the story together, and lay out the groundwork for the next book in the series. With that being said, I do not want to give out too much information and ruin the book. Overall, this was just a wonderful addition to the Chandler Hill Inn Series, and one I would definitely recommend reading! I will be patiently waiting for the next book in the series, Home at Last.

I would like to thank Judith Keim for allowing me the opportunity to read and review Coming Home. My views are my own, and are in no way influenced by anyone else.

Coming Home by Judith Keim is the story of a young woman that must return home when her grandmother is not expected to live and subsequently dies. "Cami" Chandler has inherited Chandler Hill Inn and Winery from her grandmother, Lettie, and is now tasked with making them as successful as her grandmother did. However, the manager at the Inn has made some bad investment decisions and has lost a lot of Lettie Chandler's money. Cami has big shoes to feel and she is learning her way.
As in real life, there are ups and downs but Cami with the help of her family and friends is able to persevere. Great story, likable characters and held my interest. I would definitely recommend.

This is the second book in the Chandler Inn Series. I recommend that you read the books in order to get the maximum satisfaction.

Book 2 in the series takes us back to Oregon and the Chandler Inn and winery. Lettie has died and left the land and the inn to her granddaughter Cami. Even though Cami is young, she has a love of the land that is similar to her grandmothers. Cami faces great challenges to learn to run the Inn and the winery but she is resilient and caring like her grandmother and is able to handle all the road blocks with her 'family' who works there and her memories of here grandmother. She is also helped by her grandfather and Drew. Even though there is an attraction between Cami and Drew, she doesn't want to get involved with anyone after the way her French boyfriend hurt her. As Cami tries to make changes at the Inn and move forward by becoming a wedding venue, she has roadblocks at ever turn - from the hotel manager who is taking kickbacks to her French boyfriend who tries to get back into her life. With the help of the employees and Rafe and Drew, she is able to make the Inn and winery a success. Will she find love or will the land be enough to satisfy her?

I am looking forward to book 3 in the series to find out how the Chandler family continues to change in the upcoming years.

Coming Home by Judith Keim is a sweet story a bout Camilla “Cami” Chandler. Cami grandmother has died, and she has inherited, Chandler Hill Inn and Winery. Unfortunately people had taken advantage of her grandma when she was ill. Cami works hard to save everything. I really enjoyed this book, perfect for a relaxing hours of reading. Add in a love story and Cami's curiosity about her biological father she has never met. I highly recommend this book.

I reviewed a digital arc provided by NetGalley and the publisher. Thank you.

I had the pleasure of reading and reviewing Ms. Keim's first book in this series. It was the first ARC & review I had ever done for NetGalley. It is my sincere pleasure to be able to read and review this second installment as it continues in the life of the Chandlers and the Chandler Hill Inn & Winery.

As in the first book, the story was well written and the characters have strength and high moral values in everything. No matter what, Cami puts her best face forward with honesty and integrity. She deserves to win.

As the wineries grow and mature, I am sure there will be more to tell in the lives of Rafe, Drew and Cami.

I will look forward to the story continuing in the third installment.....perhaps even more???

This book was gifted to me by the author and NetGalley in return for an honest review. I have enjoyed this opportunity very much.

This book is one to be treasured. When Cami inherits the Chandler Hill Inn and Winery after her beloved grandmother, Lettie,, dies she also inherits a challenge. With more on her plate than she ever realized, she is determined to make a success out of this new venture. This book has everything you would want to read....family, friends, an old boyfriend who comes back into her life, but most of all you have Cami and a story that grabs you from the very beginning. This is the second book in a series. I'm reading it has a stand alone, not having read the first book, but I will be going backward as I intend to read "Going Home." Judith Keim has given us a novel that she can be proud of, a well written story that assures the reader something to enjoy, page after page.

My thanks to NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

The setting is Oregon's wine country and the author paints a delightful picture! Cami comes home from Paris when her grandmother is diagnosed with cancer. Her grandparents raised her and she is devoted to them. The Chandler Hill Inn and Winery have been in the family for years and Cami is determined to help her grandfather run them after the death of Nonnee. Rafe is hired by Cami's grandfather to help with the winery and he admires him; enough surprise him by giving Rafe land once he dies. Cami is getting over the breakup of a wine maker in Paris and Rafe is recovering from a break up himself so both Cami and Rafe believe their relationship is friendship only. Cami stands by as she watches her web designer and party planner go after Rafe. Cami has enough to do taking care of her customers at the inn. This book has wonderful characters and those you hope will get what they deserve.. Good story, delightful setting, and wonderful characters.

A delightful second novel in the Chandler Hill series!
"You can choose your friends, but you can't choose your family." How true this is at Chandler Hill!
We learn of so many new happenings at the winery and inn as the days go by.
Cami is also learning how to be a business owner and doing a fabulous job, despite a plot by her ex-boyfriend to overturn her family business. He has even taken some of her best employees!
Cami is looking for family connections, and her own happiness. Will she find them?
Stay tuned. The best is in these pages!
Looking forward to the next book to see how Chandler Hill and all the family and friends are doing!

This charming story about a young woman who returns home from France after the death of her grandmother to take over the inn was a delightful read. I like the main character and that the promise was kept to her grandmother to take care of the inn after her death. Some of the characters were horrifying and had me cringing while a potential new love interest evolved which is good news. I like the setting of this story and it's a second chance at love and a wonderful new career for this likeable main character. Thank you to the author and publisher for this early read.
