Caterpillars: What Will I Be When I Get to be Me?

This book does a beautiful job of providing a decent chunk of information in a very approachable manner! The painted style was very pleasing to the eyes, and the humor was spread well throughout. All the visuals furthered the learning and enjoyment experience without feeling overly cluttered. I learned a few things along the way despite being 22. I think the "How to read comics with kids" was a marvelous addition to have in the back for parents and teachers to refer to if needed. This book is the perfect opportunity to bond with kids as you read aloud, point to the pictures, and encourage curiosity.

I LOVED this little book about caterpillars! It felt like just the right combination of scientific information mixed with fun jokes. I also learned that moths rest with their wings down and butterflies rest with their wings up! The illustrations were so beautiful!

This short and cute book covers a lot of the basics of caterpillar anatomy and lifecycle. This would be a great book to read with a child to get them ready to care for caterpillars.

As with McCloskey’s other books, it’s done with painted art, telling simple yet compelling facts about the creature, its lifespan and anatomy, and how it becomes a moth or a butterfly.

This book was so fun and informative! I loved the adorable art. Almost all the concepts were approachable and easy to understand for my kiddo (6yo), with some new info for me too. I liked how the butterflies were all named; we looked up pictures of some of the butterflies while reading!

This book goes into great detail about caterpillars and butterflies. I look forward to implementing it into our curriculum. It provides detailed illustrations and descriptions that help the reader learn about the types of caterpillars and butterflies as well as their life cycle. Great length for young readers and includes descriptive labels to help the readers understand the illustrations. Cute way to incorporate the characters talking throughout as they learn.
