For Fox Sake

For Fox Sake, has a great storyline. Not just all about sex. I appreciate that. Some of the fetishes were weird to me, but to each their own.

This is a well written and entertaining book. The relationship between Clay and Tate is very hot and sexual and is a large part of the book along with their investigation of a man’s death. Murder was not involved but the possibility caused this book to be a good read and the way they went about solving the case was well written. I would highly recommend this book as a great read.

This was an intriguing mix of a Sherlock-type mystery with a cast of characters from the London Fetish Community. Clay and Tate are partners in love and business. They run a private investigation company based on their backgrounds in the military and law enforcement. These two lovely characters came to life in a previous series of books by the author: Men of London. I haven't read the first series but I found that I could make my way through this novel easily. What I will say is that I'm curious about the backstories of these two men in particular so I may well be going back and getting the other books!

This twisted tale begins with a body being found in an alley. This is when the involvement with the Fetish community begins because the body is encased in a Fox suit! Yes! A furry! Local club owner and retired soccer player, Aurelio, contacts his ex-lover Clay and asks for some assistance in the case. There's some lovely tension created by the fact that Tate is quite a possessive lover and very jealous of Clay's ex.

Mac Nicol weaves in a variety of supporting characters as Tate and Clay unravel the mystery surrounded the Fox's death. Many of the side characters are intriguing and the chosen-family of the Investigators is vibrant and entertaining! There is a lot of witty banter, some scorching sex and some healthy UST. IF you are a fan of M/M romance, then you definitely won't want to miss this one.

In all this is a great read as a stand-alone, or if you want to read the whole series ... then save this one until you get caught up!

This is the first book I’ve read by this author. I checked and this is the first book in the series and I didn’t know of her original series Men of London and now I feel I have to check them out. Even though this is the start of a new series I feel like I missed something. The references about the past between Clay and Tate are stated as prevously worked out and I missed it. Even with that this is a great read. Clay and Tate have plenty of steam going on throughout the story and it is well described. They also made me feel that nothing was getting stale with them. The secondary characters were also fun. Not your everyday bores. Thomas more than made me roll my eyes. I would enjoy watching him but I think a little goes a long way. His interaction with Clay’s ex Aurelio was fun. Tate’s insecurity with Aurelio and his jealousy over Clay’s past involvement with him is pretty amusing. Just Tate being a insecure character is interesting. The several issues that pop up made me want answers that I feel I didn’t get. The part of Aurelio’s watching over people and his involvement with questionable people I wanted to know more about. The possible relationship between Aurelio and Thomas would be a story I would like to read. I don’t know where this series is headed but I know I’ll be watching for more book from it.

I did not need to find a new author to follow! 😊

Susan Mac Nicol is a new-to-me author. When I saw For Fox Sake on NetGalley I read the blurb and thought it sounded pretty interesting so I requested a copy. After doing a little research I found that there was a different book, in a different series, about the couple in For Fox Sake so I decided to read it first. That book was Feat of Clay, book 4 in The Men of London series.

While I think you could probably read For Fox Sake without reading Feat of Clay first, you'd miss the whole backstory for Clay and Tate and Feat of Clay is a fantastic story. It's quick paced, filled with anguish and angst and has a very satisfying HEA.

The blurb for each book is very good and describes each story well. Feat of Clay was a very emotional story to read. Tate has been through so much and it has left him with nightmares and other issues. He just doesn't really understand why Clay would even want to bother with him. These two guys go through a lot to get to their HEA and I was glued to my ereader until I finished reading this one.

For Fox Sake is the first book in a new series called Fetish Alley. The tone of this story was very different from Feat of Clay. It's more lighthearted, with much less angst. There's still a mystery to be solved (it was pretty easy to figure out) and it was great seeing Clay and Tate a few years down the road and now settled in together. After the anguish and angst in Feat of Clay it was kind of refreshing to read something that was pretty different in tone.

Although I have only read the one book in The Men of London series, I know that some of the secondary characters in Feat of Clay had books of their own in The Men of London series; I hope to make time to go back and read them.

I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the Fetish Alley series. It looks like these books may all have Clay and Tate as the MCs (main characters) and I look forward to spending more time with them.

This is a new to me author I will be checking out in the future again. The descriptions of Fetish Alley and all it entails were intriguing and made me feel like I was there too. I enjoyed sleuthing along with Clay and Tate as the author led the way. I liked the strength and commitment of Clay and Tate to each other. I loved their banter. I recommend this read.

We join Clay and Tate who run a detective agency, as they investigate the suspicious going ons in the confines of the intriguing Fetish Alley. Despite the serious nature of their work their banter is light hearted showing the years of friendship and passion that runs between them. I loved the fact that its set in London. The plot is perhaps a bit predictable but it was fun to read. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own
