Description
Walker and Munoz return to the scene of their first investigation. But this time it’s a cold case, and many of today’s modern investigative tools won’t help them solve it.
As they make some painstakingly slow progress, additional challenges stymie their efforts. And then a new present-day crime, precipitated by the revelations surrounding the cold case, force them to shift their focus entirely.
When the investigation begins to stall again, they get new information and evidence from two unlikely sources. But can they use it … or trust it … and will it be enough.

This started very slowly ad it's taken me a long time to get back to it. I'm glad I did though as things picked up after about 40%. That first 40% was essentially a dialogue between the two main characters, Detective Munoz and retired FBI Agent Walker, talking through details of a cold case - bones of a young woman found during demolition of a garage. Interviews with people working in the hospital (of garage demolition) and with the original construction family start the two asking more and more questions. Here it became clear that several of these people were trying hard to cover up the past. This is where it livened up into past events linking through to present ones and the story ended as a well-written detective tale. Thanks to NetGalley and the author for an advance copy in exchange for my honest review.
A cold case starts when a bone is discovered during excavation of a carpark. The long slow progress of identifying the skeleton from DNA samples reveals the victim. During the investigation another murder takes place and it looks like they are connected. An outstanding read highly recommended.
